CM-130

2x50W
@ 8 Ohm top quality stereo power amplifier*.
A semiconductor
amplifier based on tube amplifier principles to acheive maximum
listening pleasure, without the drawbacks of a tube amplifier.

We
use the cabinet, coolers and transformer of an STA-102 PA power
amplifier, and replace the electronics with our own.
So we
combine the strong PA cabinet, the high-capacity coolers and rigid
transformer with the top-quality sound of our own electronics.
If
you have the knowledge needed to build a poweramp yourself, or want
to build top quality active speakers, you can buy our mono
poweramp modules – essentially the same amplifiers
and
save quite a lot of money. Click here.

*) The sensitivity is high, so the CM-130 can be connected directly to CD- or DVD players, without using any pre-amplifier.
The
amplifires in the CM-130 are not designed the way you normally do. We
used semiconductors, but stabilized the amplifier the way it is made
in high quality tube amplifiers.
We ended up with a power
amplifier with the clarity and pureness of a tube amplifier, but with
the semiconductor amplifier´s firm and exact bass and long-time
stability. A unique combination.
Valutronic CM-130 is made for people with very high demands.
The first thing you will notice is the detailed sound. Just as in high-quality tube amplifiers, details are reproduced without being damped by or interfered by other sounds. All sounds are heard well separated from each other if the recording is good.
We
have especially worked on eliminating TIM (transient intermodulation
distortion). You can therefore enjoy music for hours without
listening fatigue.
A well recorded singer will sound real, not
recorded (assuming you have good enough speakers, of course). The
same goes for acoustical instruments. But of course, modern synth
music can be full of strength and "rawness" if the
recording is made that way. The only time you migth wish for lower
detail is when you play low bitrate mp3 recordings. mp3 distortion
you might not have heard using an ordinary amplifier will probably be
heard using the CM-130. It simply hides nothing.
Wonderfully deep and precise bass response.
This is where the CM-130 is not comparable to tube amplifiers. When it comes to bass, the CM-130 is better than most tube amplifiers. The bass is firm and exact. There is no problem separating different bass instruments playing simultaneously from each other. Phaseshift and distortion are totally neglectable, through the whole audio range.
Of course the above assumes you connect the CM-130 to high quality loudspeakers. No amplifier in the world sounds better than the loudspeakers it is connected to. We use CM-130 together with a pair of SQ-50 studio monitors in our shop in Gothenburg, Sweden.
We
also have an old NAD 3020e to compare to. The NAD is old, but except
for its limited output power it is still considered one of the best
sounding amplifiers. However, compared to the CM-130 it is really
bad. When we let our customers listen to the CM-130 for a while, and
then switch to the NAD (playing the same music on the same CD player
using the same loudspeakers) they often don´t even want to listen.
Yes, the difference is that huge. The NAD:s bass is much less
detailed, when playing one of our test recordings with a mix of bass
drum, synth bass and bass guitar the NAD can´t separate the
different bass sounds very well. They are totally clear on the
CM-130.
On the NAD, midrange and treble sounds "flat"
compared to the transparent sound of the CM-130. Faint background
sounds are masked by stronger, and dissappear. The sound becomes more
flat, loosing ambience.
Don´t misunderstand us. We still
consider the NAD a good amplifier. It is just that the CM-130 is so
much better.
